Description
This striking spiral ring has been fashioned from a spoon handle displaying the classic fiddle back design. Prominently featured on the handle are several hallmarks. The ‘Sterling Lion’ mark confirms the spoon’s composition as sterling silver. Alongside this, the monarch’s head, also known as the ‘Duty Mark’, is present, signifying the payment of duty at the time of manufacture. The maker’s mark ‘TB’ is stamped on the handle, though the identity of the maker remains uncertain. Completing the set of marks is the letter ‘O’, which dates the original spoon to the years 1808–1809. The handle has been expertly shaped into a spiral, creating a distinctive and elegant ring that showcases its historic hallmarks.
