This unique spoon ring has been meticulously crafted from a French teaspoon originating from Paris, dating between November 1809 and 1819. The spoon, made of silver gilt—also known as gilded silver or by the French term vermeil—features a delicate leaf pattern that runs along the handle and extends towards the bowl. Silver gilt refers to a silver item that has been coated with a thin layer of gold, imparting the piece with the opulent appearance of solid gold while retaining the underlying strength and versatility of silver.
A distinctive detail of this ring is the addition of a copper leaf at the top of the handle, enhancing its decorative appeal and highlighting the craftsmanship involved in its creation. The spoon is marked as “800 silver”, indicating that the metal comprises an alloy with 80% pure silver and 20% other metals, commonly copper.
